ImOn Ice Begins Facility Upgrades

(CEDAR RAPIDS, IA) - The City of Cedar Rapids is extending the closure of ImOn Ice Arena through late-September as the venue begins a planned renovation project. The venue was originally closed to the public in mid-March due to the COVID-10 health crisis.
Planned renovations at the venue will replace HVAC equipment original to the venue built in 2000, including rooftop heating/air conditioning units, dehumidification systems, chillers, LED lighting upgrades, and ice surface brine pumps. The projected is estimated to cost $2.86 million.

“The health and safety of our guests and employees remains the number one priority,” said Michael Silva, executive director, VenuWorks of Cedar Rapids – the management company that oversees operations at ImOn Ice. “Our staff is working hard behind the scenes to prepare for when our venues are permitted to reopen to the public, and we will be implementing several new safety measures following guidelines outlined by public health officials.”

For the current updates on events and the reopening status for the U.S. Cellular Center, Paramount Theatre, McGrath Amphitheatre and ImOn Ice, guests are encouraged to check CREventsLive.com or the venue social media channels.
