The safety of our guests and staff are the number one priority at any VenuWorks managed event. All events are billed as rain or shine. There are, however, always exceptions:
Inclement Weather Predicted
In the event that inclement weather is predicted ahead of an event, the decision to postpone, cancel or move an event is at the discretion of the event organizer.
Moving Event Locations
Should the decision be made to move the event to an indoor location, most events will make that decision at least 48 hours in advance of showtime. Ticket holders will be notified via email and notifications will be posted on the venue’s social media channels and local media partners will be notified.
Postponed/Rescheduled Events
If the decision is made to postpone or reschedule an event, all ticket holders will be notified via email and notifications will be posted on the venue’s social media channels and local media partners will be notified. If the event is postponed, ticket holders will have the option to ask for a refund. If an event is canceled, refunds will automatically be issued at the point of sale.
Inclement Weather Arises During an Event
Iowa weather has a wide range of severity. Light rain, drizzle, heat and cold will typically not impact the status an event. Our staff uses several apps and licensed programs to continually track weather leading up to and during all events.
Lightning
If there is a confirmed lightning strike within 10 miles of the stage during an event, the show will be paused and the venue will be cleared. Patrons will be directed to shelter in safe areas during a lightning storm (including their vehicles and into the local businesses surrounding the amphitheater). After 30 minutes has passed without a confirmed lightning strike, guests will be allowed back in and the show will resume but the show time will not surpass the City noise curfew.
High Winds
Should winds exceed 30 mph, the event will be paused with the intent of resuming once winds have subsided under 30 mph.
Heavy Rain
Heavy rain may or may not impact the status of an event. If there is no danger to patrons or staff, events may choose to continue during a heavy rain fall.
Please note - umbrellas are prohibited inside ticketed areas. Ponchos are welcomed.
