University of Iowa Men’s Ice Hockey Club Secures New Home at ImOn Ice Through 2021/2022 Season

(CEDAR RAPIDS, IA) - – ImOn Ice and the University of Iowa Club Hockey team announce a two-year facility agreement for the Hawkeyes to call ImOn Ice their home arena through the 2022 season. The agreement will begin for the 2020/2021 hockey season which has the Hawkeyes slated for 13 home games, including one against in-state rival Iowa State University.

The Hawkeyes, who play in the American Collegiate Hockey Association, are undefeated this year and head into MACHA playoffs this weekend.

“This has been the best season in our programs history. We are very proud of the what our players bring each day. We have a great leadership group and I feel that the key to our success has been the team-first mentality” said Coach Kevin Brooks.

Along with playing all of their home games at ImOn Ice, the team will also move into a permanent locker room and renovate it using private donations and sponsorships with community partners, something that Coach Brooks hopes will help in his recruiting efforts moving forward. “Being able to play in a USHL arena is incredible. We will be teaming up with the facility to put in our new locker room, and the opportunity for our fans being able to watch this team in a top-notch arena is going to take us to the next level.”

ImOn Communications and the City of Cedar Rapids entered into a five-year naming rights partnership on January 1st. The addition of the University of Iowa Hockey Club tenancy will continue to grow community and regional partnerships for the arena within the corridor area. “We could not be more excited. Our partnership with the RoughRiders organization continues to be strong and this addition will create new synergies and opportunities for the total hockey fan experience. The Hawkeyes organization has been great to work with, and we are looking forward to dropping the puck on college hockey this fall at ImOn Ice” said Erik Hudson, associate executive director for VenuWorks and the general manager for ImOn Ice.
